Simply one of the funniest and best cartoons not starring a major cartoon icon that I have ever seen. Stunningly good. A DVD extra on 'Desperate Journey' from my 'TCM Spotlight: Errol Flynn Adventures' 5-film boxed set.

Good old "P.U.". A barber shop-style choir introduce us to "Tom", "Dick" and "Larry" - the ever popular "Dover" boys who are having a day out from their university with one local lady of good quality. Meantime, "Dan Backslide" has eyes on the self same, rich, "Dora Standpipe" and clad in his very bright purple suit sets out to spoil their day! Disguised (?) in a garb that would have suited "Clouseau" he interrupts their game of hide and seek after the poor (maybe not very bright) girl has finished counting to 1,500! Can the boys save their maiden - or might that depend on an alert young boy scout? Actually, she looked like she was well capable of saving herself... Good fun and features a entertaining soundtrack from Rossini and Ed Haley too.
