Hot Property

- Home Alone for grown ups

Hot Property is an (un)romantic comedy about love, greed and estate agents. Melody Munro is a corporate spy with a big problem - she’s spending everything she has and a few things she hasn't on her lavish lifestyle. But when she gets caught embezzling money from her company she is fired on the spot. No more car, no more credit cards, she can't even afford Nespresso capsules. When her (now ex) friend and landlord calls to throw her out of the flat, it is the final blow. She will take no more. Melody vows to defend ‘her’ home at all costs. She uses her spy skills to take on her landlord, a raft of hipster tenants and a psychotic estate agent

Hit-and-miss. Some amusing moments, some less so and some dodgy. Overall, I think 'Hot Property' is an OK film. Forgettable, wouldn't rewatch and probably wouldn't recommend. However, it does have a weird sorta quirky side to it that I did fairly like, even if it is nonsensical a lot of the time. MyAnna Buring is, honestly, very good. For what she has to work with, she gives a pretty sturdy performance; I'd be interested in seeing her other work. Away from Buring, Alex Ferns is probably the pick. Most of the other characters are either boring or unfunny, or even both. Not terrible, at least in my opinion. Still, I wouldn't say it's worthy of a watch.
